In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Salsa Cycles’ and Whisky Parts’ parent visitor has recalled select handlebars.
On Thursday, the parent visitor of Salsa and Whisky spoken a recall of four models of a stat waif bar. Two of the bars came as part of six well-constructed builds by Salsa.
Salsa Cowbell Carbon, Cowchipper Stat handlebars, and Whisky No. 9 12F and No. 9 24F bars are affected. According to Quality Bicycle Products (QBP), the bars can one-liner where the brake/shift levers mount to them, posing a crash and injury hazard.
QBP moreover issued the Salsa recall in conjunction with Health Canada.
All four handlebars delivered to retailers from January 2018 through August 2022 are subject to recall. Some came as part of well-constructed builds, including Salsa Warroad endurance road, Cutthroat gravel, and Warbird mixed-surface bikes.
The recall affects over 8,500 units in the U.S. and well-nigh 350 in Canada, per the CPSC. According to the CPSC, the handlebars sold for well-nigh $240, and the well-constructed bicycles sold for between $4,700 and $7,000.
QBP has received 37 reports of the handlebars cracking or fracturing while in use — but no injury reports, the CPSC stated.
To identify a Cowbell, Cowchipper, No. 9 12F, or No. 9 24F handlebar, find the model name on the forward-facing zone next to the stem clamp.
QBP urged anyone who has an unauthentic bar to immediately stop riding and bring their handlebar or velocipede to a dealer for either Salsa or Whisky for self-ruling installation of a replacement stat bar or an volitional aluminum bar.
